What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
I had a great hunting dog pass and bought a Chena River puppy out of a Leonard Ferucci breeding. I wanted to have a better trained dog so I went to a training class the Retriever Club of Alaska was conducting.
Who are your training partners at home?
Back then it was the White Coats of Alaska ( Howard Niemi, Eloy Garcia, John Abrams, Mary Maxwell)
In Georgia I train with Carl Ruffalo and his amateur group.
What is the origin of your dog’s name?
Alaskan of course …. actually my wife picked the puppy from the litter and named him after her step dad so I gave it a Alaska ring.
Tell us an interesting story about your dog.
Dawson is like his father Hudson handsome and talented. Trained by myself, Curtis Kennels and Fox Hollow. Dawson's mother and brother were both Derby Finalists ... so our fingers are crossed!
