When did you begin competing in Field Trials?
Around 1999, when our son left for college.
What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
We love the outdoors and animals and wanted a hobby we could do together. We also enjoy competition.
Who are your training partners at home?
Paul Knutson (pro), Terry Christopher (pro), Anna Curry, Lee Smithwick, Eddie Hicks and at home we help each other train.
What is the origin of your dog’s name?
We bought a ranch in Big Horn, WY, and named it “WYTX” … Thus WYTX Big Horn Bessie.
Tell us an interesting story about your dog.
We owned her grandfather (on the dam’s side) FC Sooner Boomer. We are proud of the dam he produced FC-AFC High Desert Morning, “Glory” owned by Ed and Laurie Nielsen and Adam Castro.
You and your dog have survived nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to be crowned the 2022 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?
