When did you begin competing in Field Trials?
Down East Hunting Retriever Club on August 12, 2022 was the first field trial I had a dog compete in.

What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
I have been training and running AKC and UKC hunt tests for the past six years. When I got Elvira, I decided I wanted to go the field trial route. Thanks to my trainer, Mike Bassett, I am now hooked!

Who are your training partners at home?
Mike Bassett, Preston Stapleton, Clint Skipper and Nick Sutton.

What is the origin of your dog’s name?
Was jamming out to the Oak Ridge Boy’s song Elvira. Always liked when the bass singer, Richard Sturbin sang “oom poppa mow mow”

Tell us an interesting story about your dog.
Although she is full throttle when it’s time to work, she loves to lay on the couch and burrow her head in your armpit.

You and your dog have survived nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to be crowned the 2022 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?
“Elvira” by The Oak Ridge Boys
