Dog Name: Halo

When did you begin competing in Field Trials?
I basically married into the Field Trial game. I love the people and of course the dogs.

What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
I am a happy spectator/supporter. I don't think I'll ever run dogs. Dogs tend to run me, and that's okay.

Who are your training partners at home?
Rob Erhardt is our pro trainer. We also train wtih the Russells and Bickleys in Gaineville, TX in the winter.

What is the origin of your dog’s name?
Halo was the "orange" pup of the litter, so basically named after those Halo tangerines. Not because he was a little angel. :)

Tell us an interesting story about your dog.
Halo was raised with two rescue chihuahuas who had a habit of jumping on the dining room table to check out what was going on in the neighborhood. Now at 60+ pounds, Halo still thinks that's perfectly acceptable behavior for a Lab. Oh, and he also managed to deadbolt Russ and me out of our hotel room in Flagstaff when he was a puppy.

You and your dog have survived nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to be crowned the 2022 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?
This is a point of marital contention, but I'm going with "Halo" by Beyonce.
