Questionnaire
Owner Name: Kyle Garris
Dog Name: Halle
When did you begin competing in Field Trials?
I've started and sold two dogs that had some FT success. The first was around 2006, the 2nd was 2013 and is now FC-AFC Baypoint's Don't Stop Believin'. Halle is my first dog that I'm keeping and going as far as we can!
What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
I started with hunting retrievers then found out about and started running Hunt Tests, but I wanted more.
Who are your training partners at home?
Halle has been with Mike Bassett since she was 6 months old. Although I did her puppy training myself, I learned most of what I know about retriever training from Richard McDonald.
What is the origin of your dog’s name?
Halle was the most gentle puppy I have ever owned. My wife and I were trying to think of names that reflected that. Halle was our preacher's mom's name and she was such a gentle soul, the name just fit her perfectly.
Tell us an interesting story about your dog.
There were two females to choose from and the breeder told us to pick the one we wanted and they were keeping the other. Halle came over to my wife and let her scratch her belly and the decision was made.
You and your dog have survived nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to be crowned the 2022 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?
